The World-vs-World numbers come from the wiki again. Three weeks after the July 14 patch the wiki had caught up on almost all of it, so the values we had corrected by hand against the patch notes were retired and the whole overlay was rebuilt from source. Two readings moved as a result: Shadow Refuge now lists 1.5 seconds of stealth per pulse, and Signet of Stone’s active effect 3 seconds.
Several tooltips got more honest along the way. Unrelenting Criticism no longer lists a daze it lost to Symbol of Vengeance, Symbol of Energy separates its initial hit from the symbol’s damage instead of showing one number, Dragonspike Mine admits it bleeds, and conditions are named the way the game names them — Blinded, Crippled, Poisoned.
This refreshes skills, traits and their WvW numbers. The builds themselves were not re-reviewed.
v0.10.02026-07-16
Skills that treat a foe and an ally differently now say which is which. Specter’s scepter, Siphon and the Revenant’s Otherworldly Bond split their tooltip into an Enemy Target and an Ally Target half, each with its own effects underneath — the game’s own data describes these skills with barely a cooldown and a range, so the numbers and the split are read from the wiki instead.
Pets have a real tooltip. Hover one, in the bar or in the picker, and you get its family and Soulbeast archetype, the F2 you press, and — playing Soulbeast — the archetype’s merged F3. The archetype is what decides that F3, and it appears nowhere in the game’s data.
Druid glyphs show the form you are actually in. Slotted, they read as their normal selves; open Celestial Avatar and they become their avatar versions, healing numbers and all. Before, the bar showed a placeholder that listed no numbers at all.
Specter’s F1 is Siphon, not a Thief’s Steal.
The skill picker says what you are picking, shows a tooltip on every skill in it, and no longer wastes a column of empty space. Slotting a utility you already have elsewhere now swaps the two, the way the game does, instead of letting you equip it twice.
v0.9.12026-07-15
The July 14 balance patch is in. Every skill and trait now loads from the refreshed game data, so reworked lines — like the Weaver’s Flow State — and the patch’s new numbers show up in the builder and in build tooltips, icons and all.
The World-vs-World balance changes the wiki had not caught up on yet were checked against the patch notes and corrected by hand, so this patch’s WvW nerfs and buffs — Blazing Barrage, Fissure, Dragonspike Mine, Shadow Refuge, Vow of the Untamed and a dozen more — read their new WvW numbers, not last patch’s. Skills we do not override pick up the new values straight from the API.
The Updated / Outdated badge now also shows on builds grouped into a family card, not just on the standalone ones.
v0.9.02026-07-14
Every elite spec now has its own page — /wvw-builds/reaper, /wvw-builds/firebrand — with a written introduction and the builds we run on it. The Builds tab opens a menu of all of them, and hovering a spec anywhere in the site previews it.
Builds moved to /wvw-builds/<spec>/<role> — for example /wvw-builds/dragonhunter/power. Every old link, including every /b/ short link, redirects to the new one, so nothing you have pasted anywhere is broken.
Every build now carries hand-written notes: what it is for, why these traits, the gear reasoning, and — the part no other build site writes — when NOT to run it, and which of our builds to bring instead. Skills, traits, runes and sigils named in that text carry their real in-game tooltip.
All of that text was rewritten against the game data, sentence by sentence, after an audit found claims that traits did things they do not do. If a build genuinely lacks stability or cleanse, the page now says so because we checked, not because it sounded right.
Tooltips were showing PvE numbers. The site scrapes the wiki for per-game-mode values but never applied them — so a WvW build displayed its PvE damage bonus, skills showed no cast time, and effects like Engineer’s Big Boomer rendered as a bare name with no text. All of it now reads WvW.
Two-handed weapons (greatsword, staff, hammer, spear) no longer render as if they had an off-hand.
The builder no longer jumps on first load: the specialization rows and the attribute panel reserve their real size while they load.
The gallery’s filters are one compact bar at every width, and a build page only offers “more builds” for a spec that actually has them.
v0.8.12026-07-13
Opening an Engineer kit no longer also lights up the Holosmith’s Photon Forge (F5) tile — only the bar you actually opened is highlighted, on both the builder and the shared build view.
Skill tooltip facts are back in the in-game order: combo-field skills like Holosmith’s Prime Light Beam no longer scatter their Field Damage / Field Pulses / Field Duration / Heat Threshold lines across the tooltip.
v0.8.02026-07-12
Engineer kits (Flamethrower, Grenade Kit, Bomb Kit, Tool Kit, Elixir Gun, Med Kit, Elite Mortar) now expand to their bundle skills: click an equipped kit to swap the weapon bar for the five kit skills it grants — on both the builder and the shared build view — the same way Holosmith’s Photon Forge and the shrouds already do.
Skill tooltips no longer leak raw formatting codes: Holosmith Photon Forge facts like Heat Threshold, Field Damage and Field Duration now render as clean labels instead of showing the wiki colour-code markup.
Ranger spirit active skills (Solar Flare, Cold Snap, Quake, Nature’s Renewal, Aqua Surge, Call Lightning) show their real icons instead of a red placeholder mask.
The builder’s share strip is slimmer — just an author field and a copy-link button, with the extra title/notes panel removed.
v0.7.02026-07-12
Skill bars now show a skill’s follow-up forms stacked beneath it — an auto-attack chain’s later strikes (e.g. greatsword Strike → Vengeful Strike → Wrathful Strike) and “press again” forms like mantra charges, Throw Mine → Detonate, or a Herald facet’s active burst — on both the builder and the shared build view.
Trait-based skill swaps are now reflected: Necromancer’s Lingering Curse turns scepter Feast of Corruption into Devouring Darkness, and Scourge’s Herald of Sorrow turns Desert Shroud into Sandstorm Shroud, whenever the trait is slotted.
Revenant’s skill bar was reworked to show one active legend at a time (pick both from the two boxes up top), with the Vindicator’s Alliance Tactics (F3) swapping the bar between Archemorus and Saint Viktor — and you can no longer slot the same legend twice.
Every skill-bar tile now carries a consistent caption — weapon 1–5, mechanic F1–F5, Heal/Utility/Elite, and the pet row’s Pet / F2 / F5 — so the F-bar, weapon bar and utility bar read the same across professions and in the shared build view.
Racial skills (Charrzooka, Avatar of Melandru, …) no longer clutter the heal/utility/elite pickers, and the API-missing active on Herald’s Facet of Elements (Elemental Blast) now shows.
v0.6.22026-07-11
Major attribute-accuracy pass on the builder — the Attribute panel now matches the game across far more builds. Trait bonuses and conditional traits (health-threshold, attunement- and shade-gated), rune “all stats” lines, the +3% ornament, percent-of-stat oils and all-attribute foods are all handled, and duplicate sigils on one weapon set no longer stack.
Attribute conversions now read your base stats the way the game does: they no longer feed each other, and they no longer count signet passives or trait “bonus” increases — so builds that convert one attribute into another (condition damage from precision, expertise from condition damage, ferocity from precision, …) line up with the played build.
More trait stats are counted: curated critical-damage traits (e.g. Superiority Complex), Revenant legend-based attributes (Conduit’s Bolstered Bonds), and Vindicator’s above-threshold power.
Pasting a build template now loads a Revenant’s equipped legends, so the profession mechanic bar and legend-based stats come through on an imported build.
Utility Enhancements the item API mislabels — Snow Diamond Ornament, Super Sharpening Polygon and similar — now appear in the utility picker, and the placeable “…Station” duplicates are hidden.
Weapon-type icons switched to the second-generation legendary renders; item pickers and tooltips keep the full in-game item name; and converted / mode-split trait tooltip rows show their icon again.
v0.6.12026-07-11
Refreshed the home page with a World-vs-World hero banner and a slimmer Gear Optimizer callout, and the latest builds now show two per row on wider screens.
Reworked the build library cards: tighter single-line rows, shorter profession banners, weapon sets shown grouped (e.g. “Axe & Focus / Scepter & Sword”), and a profession-coloured accent on each card. Profession sections now keep a stable heavy → medium → light order.
Build library filtering is easier on phones: profession and role collapse into compact dropdowns, and the role filter is now multi-select so you can combine roles (matching builds that fill any of them).
Gear Optimizer gained a Heal preset and archetype-aware result cards, an optional boon-duration floor, and a short “how it works” guide; rebuilding from empty gear is fixed so it no longer suggests a build worse than your current setup.
Curated build management: the admin panel now picks a build family from a dropdown instead of free-typed text, keeping variants grouped consistently.
v0.6.02026-07-10
Added the beta Gear Optimizer to the builder: pick crit chance, boon duration or condition duration targets, apply all boons for the search, set health/stat ranges, cycle fallback vs excluded stats, compare result deltas and apply the best gear mix back onto the build.
Optimizer accuracy now accounts for derived combat stats such as uncapped critical chance, boon/condition duration and health; WvW Fury/Resolution/Righteous Instincts interactions are included so Dragonhunter-style crit targets line up with the played build.
Mirrored GW2-hosted render and wiki assets into the app, with cache-busted local loading so profession, skill, boon, effect and equipment icons stay reliable even when upstream assets or browser caches are awkward.
Expanded profession mechanics: Galeshot now has its Cyclone Bow mechanic and polished F-bar states, Specter shows Shadow Shroud correctly, and Thief dual-wield skills resolve from the equipped main-hand/off-hand pair.
Improved release/deploy polish with refreshed favicon/site manifest assets, safer static caching headers and a pinned Wrangler version for Cloudflare Pages Function publishing.
v0.5.12026-07-10
Fixed shared builds not picking up new data after an update — the Ranger pet skills, Soulbeast merged skills and other data files were being served from a stale cache, so recent additions didn’t appear until the cache expired.
Fixed a stray extra row in the shared-build Other equipment section (rune / infusions / relic / food / utility) — food and utility sit side by side again on a normal, infused build.
v0.5.02026-07-10
Ranger elite specializations gained their full mechanic bars: pets now show their complete skill bar (auto-attacks plus the F2 beast skill), Soulbeast merges with its active pet in Beastmode, and Untamed’s Unleash swaps between an unleashed ranger — the hammer’s unleashed skills and every weapon’s Unleashed Ambush — and unleashed pet skills. A hammer used outside Untamed can pick normal or unleashed per skill.
Weapon skills now flip in place when they change (unleash, weapon swap, attunement), matching the in-game bar, and the builder’s Ranger pet section shows one active pet with a swap button.
Attribute accuracy: Fury now grants +20% critical chance in WvW and PvP (it had counted +25% everywhere), Critical Chance shows its true uncapped value so wasted over-cap is visible, and boon values (Fury, Might) are read from the wiki so balance changes are picked up automatically.
Shared builds show a full gear template — every weapon, sigil, rune, relic, food and utility slot as a labelled box even when empty — and stored build titles no longer fall back to a generic “<Profession> build”.
v0.4.02026-07-10
Firebrand tomes now open into their page skill bars, using a generated tome skill bundle instead of showing only the tome buttons.
Skill and effect detection was tightened: weapon-conditional trait effects now respect the equipped weapon, effect-panel icons load from stable wiki image URLs, and skill tooltip text better matches Guild Wars 2 name and keyword colours.
Public changelog history now lives in one git-tracked data module, so the Changelog page and footer version badge share the same release source.
Linear release tracking is now intentionally lightweight: release notes stay canonical on the public site, while Linear can hold compact completed release references that link back to the changelog.
v0.3.02026-07-09
Shared builds now render native skill bars and compact equipment grids instead of relying on third-party armory embeds.
Profession mechanic bars gained real interactive states across Revenant legends, Necromancer shroud, Druid Celestial Avatar, Luminary Radiant Forge, Berserker primal burst, Catalyst Jade Sphere, Elementalist attunements and Weaver dual attacks.
Weaver weapon skills now follow the active attunement pair: skills 1-2 come from the primary attunement, skills 4-5 from the secondary attunement, and the dual attack is exposed clearly for mixed attunements.
Tooltips were rebuilt around the game presentation: ordered skill facts, boon/condition durations by mode, signet passive lines, food/utility/infusion details, highlighted parenthetical notes, and touch-to-open behaviour on mobile.
Mobile builder and viewer layouts were tightened so skill bars, equipment grids, tooltips and trait rows fit narrow screens more reliably.
Added the public Roadmap page backed by Linear, filtered by public labels so internal handoff notes stay out of the site.
v0.2.02026-07-07
Added the Comps section for ready-to-run WvW squad compositions, with roster pages split into Support and DPS and linked back to real build-library entries.
Added admin tooling for comps, curated collections, contributors and share-link management, including searchable build pickers and owner-only destructive actions.
Build library pages moved to a cleaner list-first presentation with profession/spec grouping, role tags, game-mode context and collection filters.
Improved SEO and social discovery with sitemap coverage for comps, structured home-page data, canonical links, rich previews and consistent site branding.
Continued WvW stat accuracy work across traits, runes, sigils, relics, consumables, infusions and game-mode-specific attribute conversions.
v0.1.02026-07-05
Launched the SvelteKit build editor with professions, specializations, traits, skill bars, gear, infusions and consumables pulled from Guild Wars 2 data.
Added build import and sharing through chat codes, compressed share links, canonical /b/<id> URLs and read-only build views.
Built the first curated build library and admin publishing flow, including collections, author metadata and Cloudflare-backed storage.
Added the first attribute/effects panels, custom effect icons, combo-field detection, source tooltips and WvW utility indicators.
Reworked the public site shell with the Straight Outta Surmia branding, responsive navigation, footer links, favicon/logo assets and early mobile tooltip support.
